Fiji to Los Angeles

Thursday 22nd December (again)
We spent a good many hours in Nadi airport yesterday, in the air-conditioning. Paul felt it was too hot to be outside, and not worth the hassle of trying to spend a couple of hours in Nadi town. At least we had good solid 3G connections, and he was able to catch up on a lot of email, and I was able to add photographs to the parts of the blog from Mana island which had been text only.

There was another Polynesian quartet singing us farewell in the Departure lounge as we left.

I was sad to leave Fiji, I enjoyed lazing about for a few days. It is certainly a beautiful place, with little green islands set in the sea, all with beautiful beaches.

And everywhere you looked there were birds and beautiful flowers.

Although I didn't think the food was great, the fruit has been wonderful. The pawpaws, mangoes and pineapple were the best I have had for a long time. And the bananas were the sweetest I have ever tasted. I could have just lain about, admired the scenery, eaten fruit and read for a few more days yet!

The flight was around 10 hours, so I really didn't enjoy it. It was in a 747, which I can never believe will get off the ground, it is so huge. We arrived in Los Angeles feeling completely exhausted, and will be here for 22 hours before we are off to Toronto. Showering and sleeping seem the best ways of passing the time - I feel quite dizzy with tiredness, and we have to get up at 5.30 am so as to be at the airport again by 7!
