Swiss Holiday 1 - On the way

Saturday October 11th
It was an early start this morning, as Paul took his cousin to Gatwick for 8.30am, and our taxi came at 10. Rather than fight the underground, we changed train at East Croydon and took a Thameslink train to St Pancras, which proved to be a much easier journey.

Our journey began by replicating the previous one - we caught the Eurostar to Brussels, where we changed train for Cologne. The journey was somewhat longer this time though, as there are works on the railway at the weekend so our train took a rather long and slow route. We arrived in Cologne about 10 past 8, and walked across the square to the hotel where we are staying for the night. After dinner, Paul went out for a quick walk but soon came back, saying only the area round the central square was well lit, the darker areas seemed a bit edgy and he felt unsafe.

Tomorrow we have to be up really early, as we have to catch an early train to Switzerland. Our first destination is Chur, then later we go to Kanderstag. I'm far from sure whether I'll have any Internet connections in the two Swiss hotels where we are staying, so I don't know when the next post will be. I'll write something every day and just post it whenever I can - which I daresay could be when I get back, if all else fails!
